Graphic recording at Masters of Digital 2024
Masters of Digital is an annual conference organised by DIGITALEUROPE where people discuss the future of digital technologies in the EU and beyond. This year the focus was on the growing use of AI, how to expand the single market, digital healthcare, skills of the future and many more topics. I had an excellent time and got to play around with a lot of fun visual concepts. Looking forward to next year’s edition.
Drawing live and showing live
i was set up in outside of the conference room in the gathering area and throughout the day, my iPad was projected to a screen behind me. This meants that people could follow the drawing as it happened real time which was a lot of fun for them, and for me. The graphic recording also got projected into the main room from time to time and there were several moments where panel participants would interactive with the drawing and tell me what to change or what to focus on. This kind of interaction was a unique experience and made the work feel impactful and important.
Live illustrating the speech of the Belgian prime minister
One highlight was definitely the speech of Belgian prime minister Alexander De Croo. he gave a really great speech about what it takes to stay competitive based on how cities stayed competitive centuries before. Afterwards, his speechwriter came up to me and helped me with the drawing and when I asked if the PM could see it, he said he will definitely see it, which is like wow!
Audience feedback
The best part of the event was that people came up to me from time to time appreciating my work and telling me how it helps them understand and think about what they are hearing. It was so nice to see their enthusiasm and see their appreciation, it made me super grateful about the job I get to do and the contribution I get to make.
